Timezone Ensemble
app
Forty time zones are in use worldwide. The artwork Timezone Ensemble, which takes the form of an app, presents two clocks: the local time of the user and the ‘collective time’. The latter is determined by players across the world, who try to score points by trying to synchronise the clock with their own time zone. A player from New Zealand who tries to set the collective time at 08:00, will therefore have to compete with a Dutch person who has to set the collective time at 23:00. Players have to tap their screens extremely fast, resulting in a manic and somewhat absurdist scene.
