Postcard of Flatland
postcard, 14,8 x 10,5 cm, changed quote from A Square (Abbott, E.A.), Flatland A Romance of Many Dimensions, revised edition 1884.
Flatland is a novella about a two-dimensional world, written in 1884 by Edwin Abbott Abbott. The story is a parody of Victorian class society, but also an interesting thought experiment about higher dimensions. For the design of a postcard, Nuyten used a text from the book, which helps the reader imagine how a rectangle from our world is a line in Flatland, and how you can enter two-dimensional and even four-dimensional realms.
