Dotted Lines
modified globe, Ø 40 cm
Nuyten traced all dotted lines on a globe and then peeled off the plastic with the map of the world. What remains is a globe with lines that once had meaning, but, without context, form a new abstract map, in which the boundaries between continents have dissolved. In this way, the work points out the subjective and political dimensions of maps. Dotted Lines was damaged beyond repair when someone used it as a football.
